John MacArthur Rebukes Joel Osteen

January 15th, 2012

www.gty.org Pastor John MacArthur exposes Joel Osteen as a pagan religionist, a quasi-pantheist, and an agent of Satan. He critiques Joel’s book, quotes, and prayer and compares them with what the Bible teaches. This is an excerpt from John MacArthur’s sermon, “A True Knowledge of the True God.” Used by permission. • judge not!

    • @theright1allthetime judge not!

    • this guy has the wrong picture of god, i guess he thinks god wants us sick, broke, & disgusted….

    • @waynesprt Can you quote the rest of the context behind that passage that says “judge not” ?

    • Judge? Of course you are supposed to. Judgement is to begin with the house of God. Test the spirits …

    • @09puertorican I hear what you’re saying. On the other hand though, tons of “christians” are falling away in these last days! Sometime this month many well known+respected denominational leaders are meeting together to focus on a global church. This conference has been going on for the last 10 yrs.+has taught 40,000 pastors+affected 400,000 churches!New age leader Leonard Sweet is attending as well. It’s called the Synergize Pastors Conference in Orlando,Florida.

    • @09puertorican As much as you(or anyone else)might not agree with John doing this,Paul called out certain people+it’s mentioned in the Bible. The word talks about false teachers who are deceiving themselves+those who listen to them. Sadly enough, there are many people who simply choose to listen to their pastor+believe everything he says, because it’s their pastor. Joel won’t commit to saying Jesus is the only way to the Father!! That is definately a very serious belief+truth.

I’m curious - how can you dislike someone you don’t know personally? Just curious…but beyond that, I agree. MacArthur took excerpts from SEVERAL of Joel Osteen’s sermons and discussed them out of context-which is unfortunate for him, but more so unfortunate for his congregation.

    • He didn’t take them out of context puertorican,he quoted Joel’s very own statements. What did Jesus say, people will be known by their words out of their mouth.John MacArthur was simply exposing a true fraud and charlatan who is misleading people to hell and comes off as a sheep, but Joel is a wolf and has gotten rich from it.You can’t twist the obvious.Think what you want but Joel is a fraud who never studied.Nothing he has preached is gospel, its his opinion. He stands for NOTHING!

    • @wstarr1231 what’s the truth? tell me.

    • @vetzkerz Jesus!!! Read the Bible…you will get it!

    • Joel Osteen seems like a speaker at a self help seminar.

    • @truthsourcenet Isn’t that the truth…

    • @LTinnell62
Joel Osteen is not a man of God even majority of his church members know this because Joel Osteen is Man centered HE is not God Centered. Tinnell don’t u know that Joel can’t take his message to Poor people in Africa and South America.
Joel Osteen is God’s Judgement for all those that Follow Joel & go to church. These People don’t want God of the bible, but for some one to scratch there ear & tell them what they want to hear. However Majority of what people lost the true view of God

    • @truthsourcenet I would have to agree with the point of that particular statement. It seems he did pick his choice of words to add to that(about the self-righteous man, which included a referral to how he ‘outshined’ the other man), just to support his argument. His argument has some validity, but that one was stretched to the point of fabrication.

    • People that are members of Osteens church go to worship themselves, and they’ll pay literally to do it.

    • I have a question…If I am believing in God and trusting in Him to deliver, replenish, restore, and prosper me, is my way of thinking, and are my beliefs wrong.?

    • @kalihiboy1000 Cut to the chase. What’s your point?

    • @truthsourcenet Just asking….Didn’t mean to offend you…Having said that, I see how educated you are with this topic and the things of God, so do you have an answer for me..? I mean, I want to make sure I’m doing exactly the right thing…!

    • @kalihiboy1000 I’m not offended, just wanted to get to the bottom line. There is nothing wrong with trusting in God to provide for us. We should be doing that, He commands us to. But that’s a far stretch from expecting God to be some kind of what I like to call a “cosmic vending machine” where He is our slave to give us every carnal desire we can imagine. I’m not saying you think that way, but many who follow people like Joel Osteen do.

    • @truthsourcenet Thank you for the enlightenment…I surely don’t want to use God for “every carnal desire…” That I agree would be wrong.!!! But, I do have desires and dreams to be successful in life and when doors close in one area of my life, I pray that new doors will be open in others…Psalms 37:4, Psalms 20:4, Jeremiah 29:11, Hebrews 11:6
